Why Did Garth Brooks Call This Country Broadcasting Legend? | The High Notes
Storme Warren takes you on a nostalgic journey through his incredible broadcast career in Country Music. It all began when a young Storme, at just 9 years old, bought his first vinyl record- a Charlie Daniels album. As he discovered more Country songs, his love for the genre deepened, and he became increasingly curious about the voices behind the music. Who were the people "on the other side of that speaker"?
This curiosity led Storme to a pivotal moment in the 7th grade. During a school field trip to a local radio station, he felt an immediate connection to the world of broadcasting. There he began a sort of apprenticeship, getting hands-on experience that culminated in Warren landing his very first radio show at the tender age of 14.
Storme's journey continued as he moved to Nashville, the heart of Country Music. After several years working in television, his path led him back to his first love: radio. He became the beloved host of a morning show on Sirius XM's The Highway, and it was only a matter of time before a phone call from none other than Garth Brooks would kick off another exciting chapter in Storme Warren's illustrious career.
The High Notes sits down with Country Music icons, up-and-coming artists, stagehands, tour managers, and all the people who make Country Music what it is to see how they prepare for the day before a career milestone.

I’m sorry can’t do this song justice
It seemed, some years ago, that Jimmy's music was, shall we say, hard to categorize. Depending on the city and the record store (back in the days when there was a couple dozen chains), you had to hunt for his music. Over the years, I found it in the Folk section, the Maritime section (I was in Nova Scotia; big surprise they had a specific "maritime" section, right?), Country/C&W, Easy Listening and once even in the Jazz section, if you can imagine it. But I wasn't surprised, really: Jimmy's music was just good times put to a tune, right? Genre doesn't matter at that point....
hmmm i believe the CMA board members should be replaced, and we should get back to COUNTRY music, and talented country music singers.

Country Music pretty much died at the turn of the century. The class of ‘89 and a few that came along in the 1990s was the last of the greats. I can count on one hand the country music artists that I’d consider country that’s come along since.

CMA Fest is growing in numbers! Country music is more inclusive than ever, thanks to people like Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson ... and the music and experience of what country music envelops is reaching more people than ever with the help of cross-over artists. All the artists that have been really big and had longevity have been accused of not being one thing or another or of corrupting the music with multiple genre influences and eclectic style. Elvis is a perfect example! With older artists like Dolly and Willie setting an example that country is about showing love for one another, sharing stories, and welcoming everyone to come as they are, country music will continue to grow and flourish!
